Afghanistan got a major boost ahead of their three-match ODI series against Pakistan as mystery spinner Rashid Khan will be available for his team.
Khan, who withdrew from The Hundred due to back pain, will play against Pakistan as the two nations will take on one another in preparation for Asia Cup, which will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
“Rashid Khan did not participate in The Hundred to take a rest before Pakistan’s series,” confirmed Afghanistan’s chief selector Asad Ullah Khan.
“We will begin our training in Sri Lanka on 10 August in Hambantota where Rashid will join us.
“We are hopeful that the team will perform well against Pakistan as it will be a great morale booster for the Asia Cup.”
Afghanistan will host Pakistan in Sri Lanka in three One Day internationals from August 22 to 26.
The two teams will play the first two matches in Hambantota on 22 and 24 before they travel to Colombo for the final ODI on 26.
These three matches will provide the Afghans an opportunity to fine-tune their combinations ahead of the 50-over ACC Men’s Asia Cup.
Afghanistan and Pakistan have played four ODIs and the Green Shirts have won all of them. The two sides last played each other in the format in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.
